'Deadly plans': Salah Abdeslam planned a Paris-style atrocity in Brussels, it is claimed

Paris attacks suspect Salah Abdeslam planned to play a major role in the Brussels terror atrocity - and wanted it to be even deadlier, it is claimed.

Abdeslam, 26, is believed to have plotted a mass attack in the style of that carried out in the French capital last year, involving multiple shootings and bombings.
He and two others had planned to storm the Belgian city with Kalashnikov rifles, while suicide bombers carried out co-ordinated attacks, according to local media.
But the terrorist's deadly intentions 'partially failed' after he was arrested during a police raid in the Molenbeek area, Belgian public broadcaster VRT reports.
At least 34 people were killed when three suicide bombers detonated their explosives at Zaventem Airport and Maelbeek Metro Station at rush hour on Tuesday.

But if the latest reports are true, the death toll could have been much, much higher.
Investigators believe Europe's most wanted man had planned to carry out a 'big shootout' in the Belgian capital alongside two other men, VRT reports.
One of these men was arrested with Abdeslam last Friday.
While the trio were causing mass devastation with rifles and riot guns, other terrorists had agreed to blow themselves up elsewhere in the city, it is reported.
The outcome would have been a Paris-style atrocity.
